Reggae for Bob Dylan fans

I am really curious .......what do Bob Dylan fans think of reggae music....?

This tribute album I came across features some of Bob Dylan's most loved songs ("Lay Lady Lay", "Mr. Tambourine Man", "Subterranean Blues", "Knocking on heavens door"...) performed by an all star line up of great reggae artists such as Beres Hammond, Gregory Issacs, Luciano and Sizzla. I dont know much about Bob Dylan but my overall impression from listening to this album is that he is a very talented song writer.

Speaking from a reggae lover's perspective, I have to say that the reggae versions of Bob's songs are better than the original. The reggae beats and melodies really improve upon his already great lyrics and just make the songs more expressive and filled with emotion to me.... I added my favorite song from this album below. Reggae in Pop Culture Series...........Underneath It all (No Doubt ft. Lady Saw)

This song was pretty popular a few years ago. It was on Billboard top 40, won a Grammy and was nominated for an award at the MTV video music awards. Pretty good pop song with a reggae vibe and featuring the Queen of Dance Hall music, Lady Saw. Lady Saw was not featured in the video for the song. I think that she did not receive much public recognition for her role in making this song a hit for No Doubt and was really surprised when I came across this video of a concert they did together in Europe....

Reggae in Pop Culture Series......Bad Boys (Inner Circle)

I heard this song yesterday at the Reebok Grand Prix just as Tyson Gay ran that superb 200m race. Lol..... couldn't help thinking about Usain Bolt as the song played. He would have definitely beat Tyson Gay......

Anyways back to the music. Bad Boys is one of those reggae songs you probably heard before and might have not known that it was a reggae song. The song was first released in Jamaica in the 1980's and then re-released in the early 90's in the US.

My all time favorite song from this group is a very fun, upbeat pop sounding song. every time I watch the video I just want to be partying in Jamaica Spring Break style (beautiful beach, beautiful weather, great music and some sweet rum punch).
